ABOUT THE FIM WORLD
SUPERCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP

The FIM World Supercross Championship is a truly global series, sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) and led by SX Global, headquartered in the UK.

After decades of being based primarily in the USA, the Championship entered a bold new era in 2022 when the FIM awarded SX Global the exclusive rights to stage and promote the World Supercross Championship worldwide. The reimagined Championship debuted with a landmark 2022 pilot season, kicking off at Principality Stadium in Cardiff in front of 35,000 fans, before heading to Melbourne, where 50,000 spectators packed Marvel Stadium across two nights. German rider Ken Roczen claimed the WSX [450cc] crown, with American Shane McElrath taking the SX2 [250cc] title.

In 2023, the series expanded to three rounds—Birmingham, Melbourne and Abu Dhabi—where Roczen defended his WSX title and Max Anstie dominated the SX2 class. The 2024 season brought new cities—Vancouver, Perth and a return to Abu Dhabi, where Eli Tomac emerged as the new WSX World Champion and McElrath returned to the top in SX2.

2025 is set to be the biggest season yet: five rounds across five continents, including new stops in Kuala Lumpur, Buenos Aires, Gold Coast and Cape Town, alongside a return to Vancouver. Champion riders return, new stars emerge—this is a fast, fierce and unstoppable Championship.

The FIM World Supercross Championship offers the richest prize purse in the sport—US$200,000 per round—and a franchise model that gives teams and riders unmatched support. With multiple races per class and high-intensity, short-form action, it’s the best two hours in sport. Fans get a 360-degree view of the action, plus fireworks, FMX, big screens, music and more.
