Argentina’s fans are among the most knowledgeable and fervent in the world, and their country’s history of producing world-class racers stretches back nearly a century.

The Legend of Juan Manuel Fangio

At the heart of that legacy stands one man. Juan Manuel Fangio. The quiet, calculating genius from Balcarce remains one of the sport’s most revered figures, a driver whose five Formula 1 World Championships between 1951 and 1957 set a standard for excellence that stood for almost half a century.

Fangio’s name became synonymous with precision and respect – not just for his skill behind the wheel, but for the sportsmanship that defined his era. He remains a national hero, his influence still felt in every corner of Argentine motorsport.

A New Star on Four Wheels: Franco Colapinto

That same spirit of determination continues to inspire a new generation. Among today’s brightest stars is Franco Colapinto, who became Argentina’s first full-time Formula 1 driver in more than two decades when he joined the grid this season.

At just 21 years old, Colapinto carries the hopes of an entire nation – a modern ambassador for the same fearless attitude that once defined Fangio’s golden age. His arrival marks not only a personal triumph, but also the resurgence of Argentina’s global presence in elite motorsport.

But Argentina’s influence extends far beyond four wheels. On two wheels, the country has long been a breeding ground for exceptional talent.

Racing on Two Wheels: Argentina’s Moto Heroes

Sebastián Porto, the proud rider from Rafaela, was a leading force in the 250cc Grand Prix class during the early 2000s, scoring multiple victories and finishing runner-up in the 2004 World Championship. His performances reignited national enthusiasm for motorcycle racing and paved the way for future riders to follow.

That legacy has continued through Gabriel Rodrigo, who made his name in the Moto3 World Championship. Known for his aggression and flair, Rodrigo carried the Argentine flag in one of the sport’s most competitive categories, earning respect and admiration from fans around the world.

Valentín Perrone: The Next Generation

Now, a new name joins that illustrious list. Valentín Perrone, one of the youngest riders on the 2025 Moto3 grid, is embarking on his rookie campaign. His debut marks another exciting chapter in Argentina’s two-wheeled story – proof that the nation’s racing DNA remains alive and well.

For the World Supercross Championship, then, there could be no better place to open the season. Buenos Aires brings the energy, the history, and the unfiltered passion that only Argentine fans can provide.

From Fangio’s golden era to the fearless new generation taking the world stage, Argentina’s love of speed never fades – and as World Supercross lands in Buenos Aires, that passion is about to ignite once again.
